KASTELRUTH - Hike to the hamlets of Tisens and Tagusens
The two small villages of Tisens and Tagusens can be reached from Kastelruth in a nice walk. Arrived in Tisens the path leads over green meadows to Tagusens. From there you have a nice view on the northeast hillside of the Val Gardena/Grödnertal with the villages Lajen and St. Peter. On the path you will walk by various quaint little farms and the picturesque churches in Tisens and Tagusens. Here you will find the school museum with the shoemaker museum and a wonderful painted parlour from the 19th century. The museum is open to the public free of charge.

The Gumper Path in Seis is a pleasure for all your senses: the five stations invite you to discover the five sensesThe hike starts at the village square of Seis, from here we follow the Burgfriedenstreet for about 350 m and then turn right onto the hiking trail to the Furscherweiher lake. We follow the signs to the “Karlotten Kofel”, a special place of power. From here we hike on through the forest and pass the Aussergost farm, Puntschied farm, Kampideller farm, Simmelemüller farm and the Malenger mill. We continue along trail no. 7A to the Peterlunger farm, from here we return to the village centre of Seis.

The Völser Aicha Höfeweg farm trail is a beautiful hiking route through ancient farmsteads, mountain restaurants, vineyards and chestnut groves. This trail can be seen in all its glorious beauty in springtime when the mountain meadows are blossoming all around. At Prösels Castle, you can take a trip back into the Middle Ages on a guided tour of the Knights’ Hall, the castle chapel and other parts of the Renaissance castle and grounds.

No other place offers such an intense view of the Catinaccio as Wuhnleger. This alpine meadow is located about a 45 minute walk from S. Cipriano and a 60 minute walk from Tires al Catinaccio/Tiers am Rosengarten at 1,402 m in the heart of the Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park. The lake at Wuhnleger and the surroundings provide the living space for many animals like toads, salamanders and dragonflies. The bomb pits at Wuhnleger provide evidence of World War II when an airplane dropped a bomb during an emergency. Highlight: Observing sunset and the Catinaccio Mountain being mirrored in the lake provide a special experience.

The walk starts in Compatsch, and the hiking trail begins at the St. Franziskus Church. Trail no. 30 runs through meadows, crosses the main road and past the Steger-Dellai Hotel. The trail meets the road to Saltria, turns off to the right and leads to an old, wide alpine path which leads down to the streams running along the valley floor. Shortly after the Laranz hut, turn left onto trail no. 12 which leads down to the Saltriatal valley. The final stretch leads out of the valley to Saltria. The way back can be done with the Almbus (from mid-May).
