💙 There’s an old saying in South Tyrol: “A man without an apron is only half dressed.” And if you pay attention in our region, you’ll notice that many farmers and craftsmen proudly wear a blue apron throughout the week. TThis iconic piece of clothing is not only essential for work but also deeply embedded in the region's cultural identity.
👉 The "Farmer's Apron," originally white and crafted from local linen, was even worn on Sundays. Around 1900, it evolved into a vibrant blue, adding flair to everyday life.
It serves several practical purposes: doubling as a bag, a sweat cloth, or a place to store small items. Once handmade by local women, the aprons are now available in shops, making them a meaningful souvenir for visitors.
While times are changing, the blue apron remains a beloved tradition, connecting the past with the present in the Seiser Alm region.
